Maryam Kanna is a program coordinator for communications at Ascend. Prior to joining the Aspen Institute, Kanna worked as a management consultant at the U.S. Department of Labor, where she supported stakeholder relations and managed public outreach for Benefits.gov, the U.S. government’s official website for government benefit information, and interacted with citizens in need on a daily basis. Previously, she was an intern with the economic analysis division at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and supported economists with bilateral foreign aid projects in Morocco, Niger, and Senegal. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science. Kanna is interested in public service and social justice, both in the United States and abroad, and is proud to support Ascend’s mission to move children and their parents towards educational success and economic security.
