Bimmer Torres is a muralist and sculptor born in Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of two, his family migrated to Denver, CO. Throughout the 90’s, his exposure to the Chicano-themed murals and graffiti, while growing up in North Denver, made a great impact on him. He began practicing graffiti at 15 years old, eventually incorporating the techniques he developed into his mural work.
In the span of Bimmer’s 16+ year career, he has successfully produced numerous artworks. One of his most recent and largest murals is called ‘Mitotli’. In Nahuatl, ‘Mitotli’ means “A Dance”. The mural’s colossal dancing figures are 85 ft. tall and 60 ft. wide on 3 cylindrical-shaped grain silos. The imagery depicts a dance between the pre-Hispanic and Mestizo figures which represent the beauty hidden behind the chaos in México in the 1500’s.
His work is a synthesis of bright colors from Zarape patterns, as well as hyper-realistic portraits, plants and cultural artifacts. The harmonious balance between each element creates a unique image that tells a story which unfolds throughout the space.
