Hannah Flynn

Executive Assistant

Hannah Flynn is the executive assistant to Ascend’s executive director. In her role she works across the entire team of Ascenders to support scheduling, staffing, speaking engagements, donor relations, and forum preparation.

Prior to joining Ascend in February 2022, Hannah served as a high school special education teacher in the West Garfield Park community of Chicago as a Teach for America corps member. In her time as an educator, she earned a Master’s degree, served as a point person for parent connection and was an inaugural member of her school’s Equity in Action task force. Teaching in a close-knit, vibrant, and economically-oppressed community fostered Hannah’s belief in uplifting families as an entire unit and embracing the two-generation (2Gen) approach.

A native of the DC suburbs, Hannah graduated from the University of Virginia in 2019 with a degree in Government and Bioethics. She has a special interest in supporting families impacted by the criminal legal system and reimagining the way our society defines justice.

Favorite Part of my Role

My role gives me the opportunity to learn from so many amazing leaders on so many different levels about a huge variety of topics. I feel my brain, heart, and imagination expand each day working at Ascend as I have a front-row seat to the work of those changing the lives of children and families.
