Kai-ama Hamer, Director of ParentCorps, and Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Robert I. Grossman School of Medicine, is a licensed special education teacher and master practitioner with over twenty years of experience supporting both children and the adults in children’s lives to improve educational outcomes. Her career began working for several agencies including the American Red Cross, supporting families living in long-term shelters in NYC. In 2004, Kai became a New York City Teaching Fellow at PS 41 in the Bronx and held several teaching positions before being named Dean in 2012.  In this role, she began to facilitate ParentCorps for families to great success. In 2015, Kaijoined ParentCorps as a coach, rising in the ranks to Director leading scaling efforts nationwide.  Kai-ama leads with love and firmly believes that a powerful home-school connection in the early grades can positively impact a child’s educational trajectory.
