Mikah is the proud mom of one daughter and is currently a few semesters away from graduating with her associate degree in psychology from Triton College. She is part of New Moms, a nonprofit that provides services and coaching around housing, job training, and family support to young moms and their children. During her engagement with New Moms, Mikah learned how to advocate for herself and others, find and use resources, create strong friendships, strengthen her resilience, and leverage support to achieve her academic goals. She is a strong advocate of two-generation (2Gen) approaches and improving systems for parents, their children, and future generations. Mikah’s aspirations include a career in social work and earning a graduate degree. She also wants to found a nonprofit that provides mental health services to individuals who would not otherwise have access to them.
