John Annis is the Interim President and CEO of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, where he helps lead the foundation’s work to create meaningful change in education, humanitarian causes, arts and culture, the environment, and medical research. In this role, he brings deep experience in philanthropy, community investment, and nonprofit leadership.

Prior to serving as Interim President and CEO, John was Senior Vice President of Collaboration and Impact at the Barancik Foundation. Before joining the foundation in January 2018, he served as Senior Vice President for Community Investment at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. He also previously worked at the Collins Center for Public Policy as Vice President of Public Policy and at the Herald-Tribune Media Group as Director of Customer Services and a member of both the executive team and editorial board.

John’s career began with more than 24 years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps, where he held roles including combat water survival instructor, legal services chief, equal opportunity advisor, and recruiter. He concluded his service as the Sergeant Major of Recruiting Station New Orleans. John has a long history of volunteering and supporting nonprofit organizations.
