On Thursday, November 30, 2017, we hosted a webinar to explore effective policymaking strategies that replace false narratives with real family voices and experiences. Speakers highlighted recommendations from a new paper, Becoming Visible: Welfare, Race, and Political Voice in Jackson, Mississippi, which details the experiences of families in affordable housing in the context of social policies that affect their financial security and economic mobility.
Speakers included:
- Aisha Nyandoro, CEO, Springboard to Opportunities (Ascend Fellow)
- Aleta Sprague, Program Fellow, Family-Centered Social Policy, New America
- Rachel Black, Co-Director, Family-Centered Social Policy, New America
- Marissa Mahoney, Senior Program Associate, Ascend
