From Two Generations to One Future: Media Briefing on Focus Group Findings

August 20, 2013 | Events

Voices for Two-Generation Success is a series of bipartisan focus groups and surveys examining and elevating the experiences, dreams, anxieties, and aspirations of mothers, fathers, and adolescents around the country.  Building on focus groups conducted with single and married low-income mothers and fathers across race and ethnicity in 2011, as well as a 2012 national survey on income inequality and solutions, this third round of focus groups illuminate the resilience of mothers; their drive for education and stability for themselves and their children; and adolescents’ perspectives on what they need to thrive in a new nation and new economy.  In partnership with Lake Research Partners and Chesapeake Beach Consulting, Ascend at the Aspen Institute will host a briefing for leading journalists and editors on new findings from the report, featuring a conversation between Aspen Institute Vice President Anne Mosle and Lake Research Partners’ Celinda Lake as well as mothers from leading two-generation programs, which provide opportunities for and meet the needs of children and their parents together.
